Most people think that rich people don’t really have time to actually deal with this kind of problems since they don’t need to worry about anything. Looks like they are wrong because the First Daughter managed to share some of her thoughts and experience regarding her postpartum depression.

HER POST-PARTUM STRUGGLE

The 35-year-old First Daughter made an appearance on The Dr. Oz Show, where she described her postnatal depression as a “very challenging emotional time”.

With every pregnancy, she admitted having different levels of postpartum depression. Ivanka even mentioned that she felt like she was not living up to her potential as a parent, a businesswoman or an executive.

When Dr. Mehmet Oz, the host of the show, asked her why she wanted to talk about postnatal depression, Ivanka replied: “It’s incredibly important. Look, I consider myself as a very hard-charging person. I am ambitious. I’m passionate. I’m driven, but this is something that affects parents all over the country.”

She was appointed by her father to be his official advisor, that would mean that she must focus on the set of issues that includes family leave and workforce development. “One thing that I continue to do is meditate. It’s been enormously helpful to me,” Ivanka said. The Trump administration is facing controversy on the health care act, she, unfortunately, didn’t make a stand regarding the matter, instead, she simply stated that she is against human trafficking, as well as racism and is actually in favor of “empowerment” and working women.

She, alongside her husband and their three children, moved to Washington D.C. from New York to work for the White House together with the president, who is her father.

POSTPARTUM DEPRESSION

According to the American Psychological Association, 1 in 7 women actually experiences postpartum depression, some of them experience PPD even while they’re still pregnant. Experts believe that it is always best to seek professional help as early as you can, getting the right help will totally make a difference for the mother, the baby and the rest of the family.

Stress is one of the main causes of PPD, especially if the mother’s feel extremely overwhelmed with the newborn. A woman’s hormone levels also change after childbirth so it can really be a contributing factor as well.
